Activision and Ex-Infinity Ward founders reach settlement!
With that being said, Black Ops 2 is good to go!
An attorney representing Jason West and Vince Zampella, former heads of Call of Duty developer Infinity Ward, says a settlement has been reached in the suit but that the terms of that settlement are strictly confidential.
“We have reached a settlement in this matter as to all parties and all claims,” said David Casselman, one of the attorneys for West and Zampella. “Dismissals will be filed soon.”
This was all done days before the court date. No extra baggage with the next Call of Duty release and Jason West and Vince Zampella are happy and hopefully will invest some of that cash into their Respawn Entertainment company. So, i’ll take this as good news.

The next Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 DLC, “Content Collection 2,” will feature three multiplayer maps, two special ops maps, and a new competitive mode called Face Off.
Face Off Mode
Face Off mode in Modern Warfare 3 is designed for smaller groups of players. According to Michael Condrey, Co-Founder Sledgehammer Games, it provides, “Small maps, custom-created to have sight lines and lay outs to keep you in the action in 1 v 1 or 2 v 2.” In other words, if you have a grudge match that must be decided by a knives-only, no-perks match, this is the mode for you. (I’m looking at you, Donell Tucker.)
According to Mark Rubin, Executive Producer, Infinity Ward,”You don’t spend your time running around the map looking for each other. You actually engage pretty quickly. You actually can still have the frantic fun gameplay we’re used to with Call of Duty, but with one or two guys.”
Content Collection 2 will be released on May 22, but 360 gamers who want to check out Face Off will be able to download two maps (“Erosion” and “Aground”) for free on May 15. The Face-Off mode will be released on PC and PlayStation 3 eventually, though no date has been confirmed. Aground is set on a shipwreck off the coast of Scotland while Erosion sees you in Roman ruins while Mount Vesuvius erupts.
New Maps
Two new COD maps,”Getaway” and “Lookout” will be released on May 22 as part of the main DLC Collection 2 release. Getaway takes place in a beachside mansion in Brazil, while Lookout is set in a forward observation post in Afghanistan.
In addition, Modern Warfare 3 DLC Collection 2 will also offer three new standard multiplayer maps. Two maps, Sanctuary and Foundation, have already been released via the Call of Duty Elite service, but a new map, “Oasis”, is set on a beach resort in the United Arab Emirates.
Spec-Ops Missions
Two new Spec-Ops mission modes are coming as well. “Ironclad” is set immediately after the Hamburg mission from the single player campaign, with you and your pal making it back to the landing beach after the initial assault, or dying in the attempt. It features asynchronous combat, with one player clearing obstacles while the other engages in basic infantry combat. Then there’s a tank section, where one guy drives the tank and the other provided support.
The second Spec Ops mission, titled Killswitch, plays out in an all-new area set in a Russian dockyard.

Activision has brought one of COD’s fan favorite from Black Ops Zombie mode to all Apple devices just in time for the holidays. As of now the cost is $6.99. If you’re a iOS user like myself you probably remember the World At War app. Nothing but brain splattering fun of 50 levels on your mobile device. As of now the Kino Der Toten is available at lunch along with Dead Ops Arcade. Future updates promise more features, more maps, and a few surprises.

Activision Donates $3million To Veterans
Activision has announced plans to donate $3 million to its non-profit Call of Duty Endowment, which helps with job placement and training for military veterans. The Endowment also announced that it will provide a $250,000 grant to the US Chamber of Commerce’s National Chamber Foundation, to help with a program that will host hiring fairs in 2012. The program is expected to provide 3,500 jobs for veterans.
Since 2009, the endowment has provided $1.5 million in grants and scholarships, which the company says has resulted in 700 veteran jobs, 2,500 receiving job training, and more than 30 receiving scholarships.
“The fact that over 20 percent of our nation’s youngest veterans are unemployed is unacceptable,” said Activision CEO Bobby Kotick, in the announcement. “These are the very same men and women who put their lives on the line to guarantee our freedom and security. Veterans Day is a time to reflect and renew our commitment to ensure our military heroes have the tools to reintegrate successfully back to civilian life. The Call of Duty Endowment is dedicated to the mission of bringing attention to veterans’ unemployment and finding a solution to this serious issue. We hope that other businesses and organizations will join us.”
Another win for us COD fans.

PC Version of Modern Warfare 3 to have Dedicated Servers
Back in 2009, Infinity Ward announced that the PC version of Modern Warfare 2 would not have dedicated servers and instead would use IWNet, which kind of angered a lot of Call of Duty fans who played on the PC.
However, Treyarch changed that by adding dedicated servers to the PC version of Black Ops. Today, Activision has announced that Modern Warfare 3, just like Black Ops before it, will have dedicated servers for PC users.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 will be launching on November 8 and will be available on the Xbox 360, PS3, and PC. The Wii and DS versions do not have a release date yet.
